Important Dates
- Symposium Dates: June 15 – 18, 2016.
- Paper and workshop proposals are due by January 31st.
- Poster presentation proposals are due by March 15th.

Venue & Lodging
The 2016 International Symposium will be held on the bustling campus of New York University (NYU) in the heart of New York City. Located in the neighborhood of Greenwich Village, sessions will be held in NYU’s Kimmel Center for University Life & Global Center for Academic and Spiritual Life – located on historic Washington Square Park. We have secured lodging in one of NYU’s Residence Halls — just a few streets from the symposium location for the very low fee of $60 to $80 per person per night.

Symposium Theme
In a world that has become increasingly interdependent and global, where communication is frequently defined by technology, with less emphasis on real-time human conversation, our mission as group workers is to create connections between human beings in order to increase supports, share diminishing resources, build and strengthen community with multicultural awareness and competence.
Proposals are welcomed in all areas of group work, especially related to multicultural approaches to group work, group work practice in developing countries or underserved communities, community development, activist group work practice, research, and training. |
Three Presentation Offerings
- Paper sessions are 30 minutes; comprised of didactic presentation and interactive discussion.
- Workshop sessions are 60 minutes; emphasize skill building with an experiential component.
- Poster Sessions are visual representations of research, practice, or training initiatives and are displayed at designated times during the Symposium.
